113 Higher Education Institutions
Upstate New Yorkers have made great educational strides. Today the college-educated population has almost doubled (to 25%), and close to eight in ten have at east a high school education.
Upstate New York is home to 113 higher education institutions including some of the finest colleges and universities in the world. This include Cornell University,UAlbany CNSE, University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University at Buffalo, Syracuse University, Clarkson University, Colgate University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry to name a few. Many were included in the US News and World Reports lists of top educational institutions.
